We are seeking a hands-on, highly resourceful Hardware & Mechatronics Intern to own the physical prototyping of our product. Operating with a strict Bill of Materials (BOM) budget, you will design, source, and assemble a sub-micron precision 3-axis motion stage. You will work directly alongside our software engineering team to bridge the gap between your physical mechanics and our web-based Edge-AI software.

  • Duration: 6 Months (Full-Time)

  • Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu (On-Site)

  • Stipend: ₹12,000 / month


Responsibilities

  • Product Design: Design custom mounting plates and brackets using CAD.
  • Precision Assembly: Build a rigid, zero-backlash XYZ motion system using industrial components like MGN12 linear profile rails, SFU1204 ball screws, and closed-loop NEMA 17 stepper motors.
  • Hardware Integration: Work alongside the software team to interface the mechatronics with an STM32/ESP32 32-bit microcontroller and Trinamic drivers (TMC2209/5160).

Must Have

  • Pursuing or recently completed a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Exceptional 3D CAD modeling skills
  • Solid understanding of mechanical transmission (lead screws, ball screws, couplings) and managing structural tolerances.
  • Knowledge of basic industrial control hardware (stepper motors, encoders, limit switches).
  • A hustle-driven, startup mindset with the ability to troubleshoot physical failures and source parts efficiently from local electronics/hardware markets.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience writing C/C++ firmware for microcontrollers (Arduino, STM32, or ESP32).
  • You build physical things: You have a portfolio demonstrating hands-on experience with automated motion systems
  • Strong analytical skills
